Diagnostic Procedures

FILTER + LEAK · STEPWISE

Cartridge filter — full service

Run when pressure climbs ~8 PSI above the clean baseline, or quarterly on a weekly schedule.

  1. 01Isolate pump, depressurize housing, drain to grade.
  2. 02Remove lid, lift cartridge or grid stack onto a clean tarp.
  3. 03Hose pleat-by-pleat at low pressure; rotate, repeat from the inside.
  4. 04Inspect end-caps and pleats for tears, oils, calcium glaze.
  5. 05Replace lid O-ring lubricant, reseat, pressurize, log new baseline PSI.

Pool leak — find before repair

Run when water loss is greater than typical North Texas evaporation (~¼ in. per day in summer).

  1. 01Bucket test — mark pool + bucket water lines, read after 24 hours.
  2. 02Isolate plumbing: skimmer, main drain, returns, autofill.
  3. 03Dye test at suspect fittings, lights, returns, and tile-line cracks.
  4. 04Pressure test plumbing under static head; locate drop.
  5. 05Photograph findings, write up scope + cost before repair begins.
